ADHD Testing:
ADHD testing is a specific type of cognitive assessment that narrows verbal and auditory concentration and attention. This point of focus allows the clinician to assess if a client has a specific learning disability such as ADHD or a processing disorder. Breaking down the components of ADHD can provide a more accurate diagnosis and recommendations. The testing process looks the same as cognitive testing where there are elements of subjective report and objective measures. The assessment will begin with a detailed and structured clinical interview, followed by behavioral rating scales, cognitive testing, and a full report with diagnostic formulation and individualized recommendations. This test is also conducted in person and takes about three hours to complete. If a client does not present with ADHD they will receive a full cognitive assessment as well that describes their learning pattern and custom recommendations for study materials and strategies that fit their functioning.
ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) can impact focus, organization, time management, emotional regulation, and day-to-day functioning. These symptoms may arise in work, school, and interpersonal relationships. Assessing for ADHD can result in more than school accommodations, it can allow for accurate understanding of how you think, function, and recommendations to minimize symptoms.
